no eye makeup

i have a confession to make: i love eye makeup. 

it's almost to the point of obsession. maybe it's the artist in me that loves playing around with eye makeup? which is why you will probably never catch me leaving the house without mascara, eyeliner and some eye shadow on. either way, this obsession started years ago (after college) when i first started experimenting with makeup.

but, here is a pic of yours truly with no eye makeup on:

there is, of course, a story behind why i am not wearing any eye makeup in this pic (and why my eye looks so funny in this pic). late last night, something got into my eye and i desperately tried to get it out for over an hour. i started freaking out, the boo took me to the ER and 2 hours later i returned home with a numb eyeball. i woke up 2.5 hours later to get up for work and my eye still had the sensation of something being in it. so i started to worry even more.

i went to work, called my primary doctor, set up an appointment for 12:20 and ran over there. my doc didn't even look at my eye--she immediately sent me to the optometrist where they did the normal eye tests (20/20 vision, holler!) and then the doc examined me. i have a strange fear of anyone putting drops in my eyes or touching my eyes or flipping my eyelids so i was bugging out inside. luckily, doc was really sweet and promised to get me all better before my bday on monday. she did end up flipping my lid and found the teeny tiniest of smut under there and removed it. i was given some antibiotic eye drops and sent on my way.

i figured i would take a break from eye makeup for the next day or two until my eye feels better. i am hoping to be all better by my bday on monday (even though when i asked the boo about doing dinner on monday. he looked at me as though i have 15 heads...sigh). but here i am--no eye makeup, on my blog. hopefully i don't look too crazy/weird looking/blah.

4.12.11 update and inspiration

i feel like i've been going on "GO" for the past month and a half. and it's actually starting to feel like i have barely had a day off to chill, sleep and relax. even when there are "fun things" going on, it's always followed quickly with other important responsibilities. i LOVE being busy...but i would also love to sleep...and relax...and...yea, all of that good stuff.

but i can't complain much. it's better to be busy than stagnant.

on another note, i miss making art. like, a lot. so i enrolled in an online sketchbooking course and have bought myself some books to get inspired. i am hoping to get back into art as the weather gets a lot nicer. i am also trying to convince some friends of mine to start a weekly art group so that i feel responsible to do art with folks. that would be sweet.

unfortunately, i have to rush this post. i'm spending the first day of the work week on a little shopping and lunch trip with my mom (i desperately need to purchase a brand spankin' new moleskin daily planner). i was going to do a catch up post with some pics of what i was up to while i was on my little break, but i just don't have time for that.

then i decided that since i wanted to spend some posts highlighting my awesome christmas gifts, that's how i would start the new year.

friday night, i went to a going away party for my cousin's boo and could not figure out what the hell to wear. finally i decided that i would go for comfort and heels.

i was also going to wear my new coat but it was too damn hot in nyc:

coat - thrifted. and yes, that's a fur collar. holler.

i might be rocking the sweatpants and heels look all winter. it was awesome.

D's tuesday night

last night, the boo and i attended the laureluxe and amanda diva grey goose event downtown.

let me just say that it was amazing to see my girl, laureluxe. i have missed way too many of her events. her stuff is fresh, inspiring and amazing to look at.

ring a ding ding....

my stupid camera always turns on in my bag and then runs out of battery before i can actually take any pics. it's annoying. and since i'm not staying at home this week, i don't have my charger. so i had to take pics with my blackberry...which isn't high quality but hey--it gets the job done!

with that being said, i'm obsessed with:

1. my nailpolish. it's THE REAL TEAL by sally hansen. i love sally hansen.
2. my double finger ring. i made it myself. and yes, i am selling them too. if you want to order one, hit me up. i'm taking orders now via email but will also be opening a shop soon.
3. my new h&m animal rings. can i just say that they are lovely? i randomly found a 4-5 ring stack at h&m on a random peg and HAD to have them.
today's ring? a hare. which is fitting since i told the boo the other day that it would be awesome to own a bunny and walk it on a leash.
