over the weekend

over the weekend, i was in new hampshire for the wedding of two people who met through me! 

the bride is actually my first friend from college and the groom is a friend i met one summer when we worked together. the whole entire weekend was a ton of fun and just absolutely beautiful.

my weekend

i had a wonderful weekend...

especially because i had the opportunity to catch up with some of my favorite women from college.

and on friday, i spent my evening at pier i drinking with my bff. if you haven't been to pier i, then you haven't found a nyc gem.

the other day i quickly snapped a few shots of a thrifted dress i bought myself a few weeks ago but haven't worn. the color is amazing, the details are to die for, the fit is just perfect and the price was just right!

i am looking forward to the weekend and REALLY looking forward to monday. at 6pm on monday, i will be on a break from work till the following monday at 11am. to make life even better, i already bought my ticket for "harry potter" so that's the first thing i will be doing when i get out of work on monday.

weather in nyc is getting better...and i am definitely looking forward to the long weekend! looks like i'll be checking out a movie, drinking, sleeping (A LOT), checking out the thrift store and hanging out with friends. oh and work. OH and i promise to take some pics. i still need to harass my bff for pics from last weekend...

my weekend consisted of:

the best conversation ever with my bestest friend from college. i laughed, i cried and i just felt really good afterwards.

dinner and drinks with my best friend on friday.

par-tay for C.D.'s little sister's bday. (which, i figured out that when she turns 25, i'll be 30. 30!). 

saw a bunch of my people at the above party. i miss them.

D's weekend

i've been in weekend mode since wednesday, 6:30pm. after work, i hopped in the car and headed out to atlantic city for the boo's friend's wedding. and it was lovely.

because i couldn't buy a dress, i had to find something in my closet...and quickly. after trying 2 dresses that were not working for me, i decided on a vintage $6 dress i got at the thrift store around a year ago. i had never worn it (it's very see through) so i figured that this occasion was as good as any other.

unfortunately, i didn't take any full body pics of the outfit.

all you really need to know though is that people kept complimenting me on my dress and asking if it was vintage. SCORE.

i hope people post some of the wedding pics on fb so that i can steal a few and post here.

labor day weekend

what makes a weekend so lovely?

being able to watch the yankees win on a beautiful saturday afternoon.

(if you follow me on twitter, you know that i was talking about my sumo bun all weekend)

i was super excited that brenda was in town. she's looking all beautiful.

i'm so lucky to have a boo that wins tickets to sporting events and takes his gf. <3

btw--i need to learn a little something something about football before the season begins. any suggestions? help? words of wisdom?

i've had some amazing weekends this month and feel like summer is suddenly on an upswing....i'm behind on posting though, so please forgive me. i'll be catching up over the next few days.

2 fridays ago, my bff's, the boo and i went out. 

bff's = my bff and his gf. she becomes a bff by dating my bff. it's like a math equation. but i'm no good at math so i have no idea how to figure that out.
but the point is this--we wanted to dance and have a good time. by the end of the night, we did all of that and had a fantastic time rediscovering spots in nyc.

D's friday favs

it's been foreva-evahhh since i've done a friday favs but i thought i would jump back in and do one today since i haven't been able to get any of the pics that were taken between last week and this week. my photographer, AHEM-cristina-ACHOOOO, has been a little preoccupied. lol. i promise to get those pics up soon.

i want to host an outdoor dinner party just so that i can collect jars, throw mini candles in them and call it a day.

what are your weekend plans? mine include some cleaning, a dinner party, exclusive clubs, and my bff coming to town.

devacut

after a lot of internal debate, i FINALLY decided to get a devacut.

well, i kinda had to be pushed a little to do it from my sis but still. i did it!

but i didn't have to go far downtown to get it. i actually found a devacut hair specialist right here in my hood at salon zoe.

this was, by far, the BEST hair cut experience i've had in a really long time. 

my stylist, angela, started out with a consultation and asked me to take her through my hair regimen. if you know me, i have been trying to perfect this for some time. she actually told me that my routine is fine...and sent me straight to get my hair washed.

she checked out my hair again and told me i had beautiful curls. i've been feeling insecure about my curls for a while now and it was nice to hear a specialist tell me how nice my curls are. (happy dance).  she did some cutting, then sat me under the dryer to see how my curls looked, and then cut some more.

and VIOLA.

perfection.

i was so happy with the result, i have been convinced to buy the devacut shampoo. it's magical. and i've been searching for a really good shampoo for some time now. so regardless of price, i think i am seriously going to add the devacut shampoo to my regimen.

i'll stick with my conditioner, giovanni, though. i like it. and i am still going to do my avocado conditioner treatment once a week but without the added olive oil. she told me that too much oil will dry up my hair.

but i am in the market for a new leave-in conditioner. all suggestions will be taken into serious consideration (if the product is ALL NATURAL!).

besides my wonderful salon experience, i also got a tattoo this weekend. if you follow me on twitter, i twitpic'd it. check it out...

it's me and the boo at the wedding we attended over the weekend. you can't tell, but i was SWEATING in this dress all day. it was so freaking hot. and my hair--don't even get me started on how my 'do was so inappropriate for a bus ride to the wedding with all of the windows open. EKK.
