not because i didn't have fun...but more because i had this wonderful plan in mind to have the most fun i can have and that totally didn't happen.
*i woke up before 8:30am both days.
*i was in brooklyn both friday night and saturday all day.
*running errands is tiring.
*the dog i was helping to dog-sit kept trying to wake me up at 6am.
definitely not how i envisioned my weekend but i will say that i had a blast doing what i did and don't regret anything that happened this weekend. i'm a planner so i like to know what's going to happen but the fact that the "fun" stuff i thought i was going to do didn't happen is ok with me because i still had a fun weekend.
(that was a weird paragraph)
anyway, my camera is finally charged but now i can't find the wire to upload pics. figures. and i didn't have time to scan some drawings/watercolors i've been working on so here's my bad blackberry camera at it again:
detail of a drawing i did that layered tons of different color skulls.
i am super uninspired when it comes to outfits this week...nyc weather has been not so nice to us lately. gray, rainy weather is not my idea of fun. BUT i woke up this morning and the sun was shining and it just feels like it's going to be a glorious day.
i'm still without a real camera so i am still snapping pics with my bb:
my skirt and shoes. (pic inspired by better with smiles). you can't tell by this pic but the skirt is a neon yellow. i love it.
guess who's back to sketching again???? a sneak peek of a sketchbook i'm working on.
how much coffee gets me through the day? a lot....this cup is HUGE.
my stupid camera always turns on in my bag and then runs out of battery before i can actually take any pics. it's annoying. and since i'm not staying at home this week, i don't have my charger. so i had to take pics with my blackberry...which isn't high quality but hey--it gets the job done!
with that being said, i'm obsessed with:
1. my nailpolish. it's THE REAL TEAL by sally hansen. i love sally hansen.
2. my double finger ring. i made it myself. and yes, i am selling them too. if you want to order one, hit me up. i'm taking orders now via email but will also be opening a shop soon.
3. my new h&m animal rings. can i just say that they are lovely? i randomly found a 4-5 ring stack at h&m on a random peg and HAD to have them.
today's ring? a hare. which is fitting since i told the boo the other day that it would be awesome to own a bunny and walk it on a leash.
last week, the girls and i got tickets to attend the shecky's wine and food tasting in nyc and boy was it....fun? hanging with the chicas was awesome but the event was crazy, unorganized, and an all around hot mess. not only did they screw up on all of our wine tasting times, after they rescheduled us the tasting was delayed by another half hour.
BUT--the ceviche was awesome and i seriously could have wasted all of my tickets at that one table.
pic of me and the chicas. i was feeling super unfashionable this night compared to them.
and me with my bff. in the first pic, those glasses are for my boo who will be using them for a role later this month. and the second pic, i'm telling her some story about something or other. you know how it is.
i still love the shecky's girls night out...but this wine and food tasting was not for me.
i'm just happy i got to spend time with my chicas...
i've had some amazing weekends this month and feel like summer is suddenly on an upswing....i'm behind on posting though, so please forgive me. i'll be catching up over the next few days.
2 fridays ago, my bff's, the boo and i went out.
bff's = my bff and his gf. she becomes a bff by dating my bff. it's like a math equation. but i'm no good at math so i have no idea how to figure that out.
but the point is this--we wanted to dance and have a good time. by the end of the night, we did all of that and had a fantastic time rediscovering spots in nyc.
my outfit details: top, skirt and shoes - h&m, feather earring - my cousin made it for me (she'll make you one too if you ask!)
cristina's outfit details: dress - f21, shoes - steve madden, clutch - banana republic, earrings - created by fortune
she's one of my blog supporters (like--the biggest supporter) so her cute outfit gets a shout out too.
and btw-if you live in ny, in your mid to late 20's and can recommend some cool chill spots, please leave a comment. that was our goal for the night and we found a spot (out of 3) that we liked but we're still searching for more!
it's been foreva-evahhh since i've done a friday favs but i thought i would jump back in and do one today since i haven't been able to get any of the pics that were taken between last week and this week. my photographer, AHEM-cristina-ACHOOOO, has been a little preoccupied. lol. i promise to get those pics up soon.
love this piece. so much. i wish i could paint like this.
i want to host an outdoor dinner party just so that i can collect jars, throw mini candles in them and call it a day.
i don't know what this pic is about, but i love it. scarf? buttons? stripes? i need to put together an outfit like this one day.
this apartment is perfection. absolute perfection.
HAPPY FRIDAY, folks!
what are your weekend plans? mine include some cleaning, a dinner party, exclusive clubs, and my bff coming to town.
i've been meaning to talk a little about my hair routine since i started changing it up for the better. i realized that it's the little things that make a huge difference. so here it is from start to finish:
1. i use deva cut no poo shampoo in my hair. it's the BEST. seriously. it makes my hair feel soft and manageable and not tangle-y. that's always been my issue with shampoo so i would recommend it for your shampoo'ing needs. my normal routine is to shampoo once but there are some days when i'll do it twice. it just depends on how nasty i think my hair is.
2. i use the giovanni conditioner (for damaged hair). i went on a serious no alcohol products kick and researched all of the products in cvs until i found this conditioner. it's AMAZING. what i didn't realize is that i should keep at least half of the conditioner in my hair instead of washing it all out. best trick ever.
3. then i use a tshirt to get the excess water out of my hair. yes, you read that correctly--a tshirt. and while i'm doing that, i scrunch my hair so that the curls start to form.
4. after that, i found the giovanni leave in treatment works best. it's thick but really really good. i make sure to scrunch while i'm putting it in (sometimes i use the tshirt to scrunch the product into my hair).
5. then i use a curling iron on a low setting to give some of the curls more definition. for some reason, my hair in front sometimes dries in this weird straight but not straight look and no matter how much i scrunch it, it doesn't curl. so the curling iron helps that.
OH! and i'll flip my hair upside down and scrunch every so often to define the curls and get body. there are a few tricks i've been meaning to try so when i do, i will let you know.
if you have any curly hair questions, please feel free to email/comment/message me. i'm more than happy to help out.
i'm not feeling super inspired lately to make any art.
and this weekend, i didn't take any pics so i need to wait for my friend to send me her pics from our night out on friday. it was an adventure. a great adventure. i don't remember the last time i had a night like that.
decided to post this pic because i love the way the books are stacked. i dream of stacking books in an apartment like this one day...
outfit details: black tee and lace skirt - target, blue sweater - h&m, double finger ring - i made it, shoes - bakers
i've been wearing some cute outfits lately but i didn't take any pics of them so i actually have no proof of their cuteness. damn.
so last night, before climbing into bed, i remembered to take a pic!
this skirt has quickly topped the list of favorites. it's cute, comfy and i felt really good in it. i also have been daydreaming about how i will wear it on the weekends, in the fall and even during the winter with my snow boots. yes, it was that hot in nyc today that i was thinking about winter..snow...ahhh...
this weekend is going to be packed with fun stuff...but next week is going to be even better! i'm going to the shecky's event on wednesday and then yours truly will be bartending at my friend's fundraiser on thursday. did you hear me? i'm BARTENDING. i think my friends need to expect some stiff drinks.
if you're interested in coming by to support, it's fiddlesticks (56 greenwich ave) from 6-9pm.
my amazing friend will be raising money for pediatric and breast cancer.
don't even get me started on how selfless my friend is.
